The club plays in various local leagues and maintains both Mens and Ladies teams.

Mens Club Teams

Shiplake Tennis Club has one Men’s team in the Oxfordshire Winter league Division 5 – where we finished 4th of 10 in spring 2023.
 
We also have one Men’s team in the Berkshire Summer league Division 5A.   
The men’s teams are co-captained by Andy Stallwood and Matt Thomas.  
The third Men’s team is in the mid-week  Berkshire over-55 Seniors league Division 2 – captained by Richard Ormerod.
 
The aim is that everyone eligible and capable can play in at least one match.
There is a men’s squad practice evening from 19:30 to 21:30 every Thursday (weather permitting) open to all men of a modest standard.

Ladies Club Teams

Winter league

Shiplake has three ladies teams in the OLTA league: The “A” team captained by Nikki Botterill, “B” team by Janette Verrall and “C” team by Amanda Andrews. The Berkshire team is captained by Sharon Hearn.

Summer league
 
There are two ladies teams in the OLTA league captained by Nikki Botterill and Janette Verrall.  We also have two Berkshire teams led by Sharon Hearn and Linda Malden.

Captains are always on the lookout for new players to add to their squads – if you’re interested in representing Shiplake and in playing competitive tennis against other clubs and are uncertain which team would be suitable for you please contact amandajaneandrews3[at]gmail.com who is the Fixture Secretary and will be happy to help.

Mixed Teams

For the second year we entered a mixed team playing this year in the Oxfordshire Summer league Division 8.
 
In our first season we won Division 9 and so were promoted! 
This is a great format and much fun where again the aim is that everyone available and capable gets a match in an entertaining and competitive setting.
 
The Men’s captain is Richard Ormerod and the Ladies’ captain is Karen Peters.
