STSC Committee Members
As Chairperson, Marcus is responsible for the smooth running of the club, and this principally means allowing the experts on the Committee to exercise their offices with minimal hindrance. Although his first such role in a sporting club, he has long experience in the commercial world of working with creative and energetic people of many nationalities, including those from Israel and the Netherlands. He is greatly looking forward to an exciting and highly interactive term of office.
As a resident of Henley for 30 years, Marcus lives with his wife (Katie) and occasionally one, more or fewer of his 3 children who are variously making their own way in the world now, occasionally returning when particularly nice restaurants are suggested. As a member of the championships committee for the last few years, he has contributed to the smooth running (yes, really!) of those events, and has been a member of the Men’s B team from time to time. An enthusiastic supporter of the club sessions, he is looking forward to more tennis in 2021, a return of the social calendar, and connecting with the membership to hear their views on how he should do his job. All suggestions welcome!
Olly’s role as Secretary involves organising Committee Meetings and the AGM, setting agendas and creating minutes, and acting as second approver for all Club expenditure. Olly has lived in Binfield Heath for 8 years with his wife and three children, and is often seen on court on Thursday evenings trying to hit shots that only his 14yr old self could actually manage.
I live in Binfield Heath with my husband Hamish, two of our three children and a bouncy golden retriever puppy called Skye. We own and run a consultancy and both work from home. I’ve been a member of the tennis club for 20 years, play in the OLTA Ladies B team and organise the Wednesday morning ladies’ team practice. I’m looking forward to returning to the role of Membership Secretary and am happy to try and deal with any queries from both members and prospective members.

Nick has lived in the Henley area since 1997 having moved here after 23 years in Montreal and 2 years in California’s wine country. Having completed three years at catering college in the 60’s he trained in Switzerland and France working 20 years in that trade. After retirement from 15 years as an account
manager in a Henley based IT company he returned to his original career working part time as a Chef for Luscombes at the Golden Ball then helping open The Square and Al Forno in Henley.
A keen sportsman since boyhood, Nick played rugby, football, cricket and golf as well as tennis. Nick volunteered to take on the role of H&S to help the club re-open after the first Coronavirus lockdown and is keen to continue in making sure that the club is compliant with LTA guidelines and a safe place for individuals and families to enjoy their tennis.
As Junior Secretary, Rachel is responsible for organising the junior coaching programme and other junior events, answering email enquiries from prospective new junior members and is also the Club Welfare Officer.
She has lived in Binfield Heath for 16 years and has been an aspiring rather than active tennis player, with a new target to join one of the ladies’ teams as soon as her recently rebuilt knees allow! Her husband plays tennis regularly and her 4 daughters all attend the junior coaching sessions, so it seems only fair that she should take a turn as the Junior Secretary!
Helma Marlow joined the tennis club almost two years ago and plays there regularly. She loves tennis and socialising, so is looking forward to combining both in her new role! She aims to organise many varied events throughout the year with the help of her sub committee, Nikki and Andrew Botteril. She lives in Binfield Heath and has three grown up children. She has lived in and around Henley for 27 years.
